The Buddha's Four Noble Truths

Dates: February 16th to March 23rd, 2014
Description: A small group of 12-16 students will meet twice a week during the five week program to explore the teachings and practices within the the Buddha's Four Noble Truths. We will focus on Dependent Origination as the cause of Dukkha, and the Path of Liberation.
This Program consists of three daylong retreats, two weekly classes, and meeting privately with the teacher throughout the program. Daylongs from 9:45am-6pm on Sundays 2/16, 3/9 and 3/23
Sunday classes from 6pm-8pm in Briones
Wednesday classes from 7pm-9pm in Berkeley
Cost: $595-$395 sliding scale (work scholarships offered for those with lower incomes, no one turned away for lack of funds)
Prerequisites: At least two silent week-long mindfulness, insight or loving-kindness retreat within the last five years.

Tempel Smith began practicing intensive Insight and Metta retreats in 1989 under the guidance of Jack Kornfield, Joseph Goldstein and Michele McDonald. He spent a year as a monk in Burma with Sayadaw U Pandita and Pa Auk Sayadaw, and has been teaching since 1997. He is the founder of BASE House, a collective of Buddhist activists and service providers. He also leads pilgrimages to Burma and India.
