Description: A small group of 16 experienced students will meet once per week during a 12-week program. We will follow the Buddha's teachings of mindfulness within the body as described in Anapanasati (MN 118) and Satipatthana (MN 10) suttas.

Together we create a courageous practice period in the middle of our daily routines. With the support of the group and the teachers, we explore the body as both a refuge and foundation for embodied presence, and also the rising place of liberating wisdom. Using the breath and body meditations will be taught in the context of liberation from within our house holder lives.

In these spring and fall intensives we gather to create a courageous practice period in the very midst of our daily life. With the support of the group, the teachers, and the Buddha's teachings we can all take steps more fully into the noble eight fold way. During a program like this we discover our ordinary home lives can be a place of cultivating the greater freedom and ease of the 3rd noble truth - the end of dukkha (suffering and discontent).

This Program consists of four daylong retreats, weekly classes, and up to four private meetings with the teachers during the program. All times listed are for the pacific time zone.
Cost: $950-$750 sliding scale. Work exchange and scholarships offered for those with lower incomes.
Prerequisites: At least three silent week-long mindfulness, insight or loving-kindness retreats within the last five years.

Kristina Baré has trained as a psychologist and Somatic Experiencing (R) practitioner. She has practiced Vipassana meditation in the Mahasi Sayadaw tradition the last 12 years. In 2019/20 she spend 6 months in intensive retreat practice at the Forest Refuge and in self-retreat under the guidance of her teacher Marcia Rose. The last years she has practiced in the Pa Auk Sayadaw tradition with a focus on Anapanasati and loving-kindness. She is being mentored by Marcia Rose to teach meditation retreats in the Theravada tradition. .

As a teaching team Tempel and Kristina offer an integrative teaching environment, combining classical Theravadan teachings with somatic western psychology. This combination gives modern western students more support and greater integration of these healing and liberating teachings.
