2016 Trip to Burma/Myanmar

* * * Walking Within An Ancient Dharmic Culture * * *

Dates: January 18th to February 2nd, 2016

Description: We have planned a 15-day trip inside of Burma (Myanmar) from January 18th to February 2nd. We will visit the cities of Yangon, Bagan, and Mandalay, travel on a ferry up the Irrawaddy, make offerings to a monastery and a school, visit meditation centers in Yangon, and get to know many lovely and dear Burmese friends.

It is a rare and precious gift to yourself to join a group of fellow practitioners and visit the country of origin from where such powerful Buddha Dharma has come. It is even more rare to go there with a Dharma guide and teacher who can help translate the ancient forms of Dharma practice and culture, and put it into terms you can understand.

Places: The three main cities will be Yangon, Bagan, and Mandalay. We will spend 4 days in Yangon, 6 days in Bagan, and 3 days in Mandalay. We can visit monasteries and holy sites in all three cities, ancient sites in Bagan, a terrific school in Mandalay, and the great old, British urban areas of Yangon. Included in this trip will also be one day long ferry ride on the Irrawaddy river, and two plane flights out and back into Yangon. I have friends in all three cities who will love to meet you.

Cost: $3,500 (includes all hotels, major transportation, breakfasts, guides and donations within the country)

Prerequisites: At least one silent week-long mindfulness, insight or loving-kindness retreat within the last two years.
